Who reads all these blogs anyway?

I love to blog, but I’m beginning to feel like a bit of shell buried in the sand.  How many blogs do people read in one day?  Compared to the number of blogs that are written, what portion of them are read?  Does anyone really care?

I blog three or four places every couple days.  On one blogging site, I write daily.  (It pays money, I hear.)  To look at the reverse of this, I read two or three blogs every day (not the same ones).  So, if I should read as many blogs as I write, I’m behind, aren’t I?

Does anyone keep track?  I can tell when someone posts to my blog, but I can’t tell when someone just stops by for a quick look.  (I should put a stats counter on this blog, shouldn’t I?)

A lot of writers blog, wanting to push their latest book to the public.  Frankly, a lot of them should save their time and just write their books.  However, the current word is out.  HAVE A PRESENCE ON THE WEB IF YOU WANT TO PUBLISH! They say that if an agent thinks your book is a possibility, it’s highly likely he/she will look at your blog.

I call that superstitions and fairy tales.

(Aside to Agent: If you’re reading my blog, note that I am blogging instead of writing my book.  If you let me know you were here, I’d be glad to change my priorities and go back to writing the book.)

Actually, it’s easier to blog, because you just write about what’s on your mind at the moment.  A book needs substance, a plot, interesting characters, good dialog.  It takes a bit more effort to write a book.

Meanwhile I’ll keep on doing both.  Good blogging to you all.

You could put out those hanging nets with bird feed in them to hang in trees. They seem to go down very well. You can get them in all hardware stores.

I used to use hanging nets, but the larger birds learned how to break them. One swoop of their claws, a slash on the net, and it was all on the ground.
