On this Thanksgiving Day our thoughts turn to the things we are grateful for. We thank God for the family and friends who gather with us today. We thank Him for the table which holds more food than we can eat – even if we stuff ourselves. We pray for those who don’t have these things, for these are the things of life.
My family is gathering at our youngest daughter’s house this week. Right now the house is quiet. I’m working on my laptop in my daughter’s great room. My grandson is still asleep. That boy just races from one thing to another all day long. It makes me tired just to think of it. (I remember my husband’s mother saying the same thing.)
After a while we’ll get the pies in the oven and put the orange and gold cloth on the table, set it with the good dishes, and prepare the meal. Then we’ll do it again next week. Because of the various schedules the only time we can all be together is next week. Who cares if it’s not “Thanksgiving Day”? We’ll be thankful to be together and we’ll load the table once more with good things to eat.
Hopefully my diet can take it. As a diabetic, the holidays are a mine field. You can maintain equilibrium if you’re thoughtful about what you eat, but the temptations are all there. I don’t ask my family to do without their good things just because I have to. Truthfully, I’ll probably have just a little of this or that so I don’t feel deprived.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all today and every day. Never forget to be grateful for the good things in your life.

P.S. I’d be even more grateful if I could figure out why I can’t insert a photo into this post. Maybe later today. Thanks for visiting.
