Camping and Square Dancing

One of the fun things we’ve done lately is camp out and square dance.  Gone are the swirly skirts and ruffly petticoats.  I’ve discovered you can square dance in jeans too.

Playing around with Adobe Elements – an Update

Tuesday, April 20
I had quite a lot of fun with Adobe Elements. I admit I’m a coward about learning how to use Adobe Illustrator. But, you know, Adobe Elements lets me play around and at least think I know what I’m doing.

I was playing around with the posterize effect.  Posterize just makes it look more like a poster and not so much like a photo.  It brings out details I hadn’t noticed before.  (Like my grim face.)

I have a lot of fun with effects. This is how my photos came out.

Here’s another.

I also experimented with a composite photo. I haven’t learned to do it well yet, but here’s what I came up with.

You might notice I spend a lot of time square dancing.  It’s fun.

I can have a lot of fun without being expert at Adobe Elements.

As for Flipping Book – it’s on my list of things that isn’t worth the trouble. I installed it again and again and nothing worked. I mean nothing! It wiped out the whole post, not just its own little area. I decided that it wasn’t worth the time I’d spent to make it work. Help on the web site wasn’t really helpful. Sorry Flipping Book.

Days and days ago
UH! OH!  I’ve got a problem.  I’ll be back with you as soon as I fix it.

Even earlier

Once in a while, a girl’s got to play.  Here I’m combining my love of square dancing and Adobe’s Posterize effect.

Oh yes, I’m also playing around having problems with FlippingBook.

Please be patient with the adventurer in me.

Dancing at our party

Roy and I square dance

Roy and I square dance

We didn’t want our Anniversary Party to be shake hands, congratulate, eat a bit, talk a little bit, and go home bored so we had dancing – different kinds of dancing that anyone can do.

We did square dancing, line dancing, and silly dancing.  If there wasn’t some kind of dancing you could do, then you probably weren’t physically able to dance.

Macarena. Everyone laughed when it was time to shake the booty.

We had so much fun.

I’ve been square dancing!

Every year at one of the dances, the Whirlaways square dance club has a Spin The Top dance.  Each of the clubs in our area are given a high quality top.  They must select someone from their club to spin the top.  It’s a lot of silliness, but look at the attention here.

Does that look like everyone is bored?  No, it’s rapt attention.  We really care who wins – for the moment.  When the winner is announced, it’s back to square dancing.

Here’s a picture of them launching the tops.

You can just barely make out the wood tops on the wood floor.  These tops are so well balanced that they spin a very long time.

There is so much competition between the clubs.  It’s very serious stuff.  That is, until the caller begins a new square dance and we turn our focus to dancing the intricate squares.

It’s good old fashioned fun.  There’s dancing, food, music, and a bit of time to just visit.
