Well, the bunnies look comfortable.
Sleepless in Seattle – it was a catchy film title, wasn’t it? The film was really kind of cute. Well, the real thing isn’t that much fun. I’ve never been a good sleeper and tonight I just couldn’t sleep much. I’ve been up since 2:30 AM. I’ve tried the things that usually work: an hour or so of TV while lying on the sofa, a sweet snack, walking around a little. Nothing worked. So, I finally dressed and here I am watching the sun come up.
We have overcast skies this morning. That holds the heat away for a while, but the humidity is high. I feel like I could scrape my body with a table knife and cause water to pour off of me. It’s not nice – though in Seattle they seem to be used to it.
I have lots to keep me busy. One of the things about being up too early is that you learn the quiet things you can do that don’t disturb anyone who is able to sleep. I often watch TV. I record my favorite programs on the DVR so there’s always something to watch. I don’t have to watch infomercials anyway. I read if my eyes will focus. I dink around on my computers. I do dishes or a load of clothes. If I’m up, I might as well accomplish something. I sometimes even go for a walk or drive to an all night restaurant.
Which leads me to the thought that I could probably work on my newsletter for Sisters In Crime. I’ll probably be sleeping later when I’d planned to do it.
I hope you’re having a restful sleep.
Marilynne (who just noticed that I need to set the clock on my blog. I wonder how that happened?)
