It’s morning and I’ve hardly slept. I’ll sleep an hour or two then wake up. Fortunately, this is Saturday so if I manage to REALLY fall asleep, I can sleep as late as I want.
I deliberately record programs on the TV to watch in the middle of the night. Do you do that? Last night I was watching House Hunters, Criminal Minds, and CSI. I had to delete one of them because it was pretty violent and I didn’t want to fall asleep and have nightmares.
I used to just get up and work until I got tired, maybe have a little to eat. That just didn’t work last night. I put the dishes left from last night’s supper into the dishwasher. That doesn’t really qualify as work. With the dishwasher running, and a snack, I lay down on the sofa and pulled a quilt over me to watch TV. Four hours later, I was still awake.
When we lived in the suburbs and I couldn’t sleep, I sometimes would take a walk around the sleeping neighborhood. It’s interesting to be outside and know everyone is in their houses sound asleep (where you’d like to be). By time I was home I would be ready to sleep. Where we live now is countryish and very dark at night. I’d be doing good to get to the end of the driveway without tripping over something - or to get very far down the road without every dog in the neighborhood barking at me.
Another thing I used to do was go to a restaurant for breakfast. I’d take a book and read and eat and drink coffee. It’s also interesting to be in restaurants in the early hours. Things are just different. Where we live now, almost everything closes up by 10 PM.
Maybe I just need to move back to the city. Just joking. There is plenty for me to do here, I was just too tired to want to tackle it.
So, here I am rambling along and yawning and wondering if I can go to sleep now that the sun is up. After a bit I’ll try.
I hope your evening was pleasant and that you slept well. I’d hate to think that there were thousands of people like me out there just wishing for a little rest.
Tonight, I sleep.

Well, I was awake all night, then slept most of the next day. Typical, isn’t it?
