Stephanie of From Huskies To Husbands has given me this Queen of all Things Awe-Summm award. This is the first award for this blog and I’m sooooo happy to have it.
Here are the Queen of All Things Awe-Summm rules:
1 – List seven things that make you Awe-Summm.
2 – Pass the award on to seven bloggers you love.
3 – Tag those bloggers to let them know that they are now Queens of All Things Awe-Summm.
4 – Don’t forget to link to the queen that tagged you.
5 – If you would like, copy the pic and put it on your sidebar so everyone knows that you’re a queen.
What are seven things that make me Awe-Summm?
1 – I just turned 70. I am in awe of it. My readers are probably in awe of the fact that anyone could possibly live to be this old and still be computer literate.
2 – I’m a serious writer who always has a book in progress, I just never finish them. This is awesummm because you’d think I’d be happy to go to the next step – if only I’d finish the book. I think I like my characters so much that I don’t want them to go away.
3 – I have an awesummm husband and three awesummm daughters. I think I’m repeating myself on this one. You know how it is when you’re over 70.
4 – I exercise at Curves (a lady’s gym) three days a week (intermediate level) and I do Zumba aerobics two days a week. This keeps me from feeling like I’m 70 – I think. I’ve never been 70 before, but I think most 70-year-olds don’t exercise this much.
5 – My husband and I square dance. Square Dancing is aerobic and fun, fun, fun. See #4.
6 – When I was in school, I was discouraged from a career in writing or in art. They said these things were nice, but you’d never make any money at it. I only started the art thing a few years ago and I don’t make any money at it. The writing gave me a career of 25 years and I did make money at it – a lot of money. If you’re still at an impressionable age, don’t believe anyone when people tell you you can’t do it.
7 – I’ve always disliked cooking and get out of it any time I can. I have disliked cooking from the first day someone tried to teach me to cook (about 10 years old) and I have been totally consistent about that my entire life. I can cook and do it well, but you’ll never hear me singing in the kitchen.
I would like to bestow the Queen of All Things Awe-Summm!!! award to the following bloggers. May they write long and prosper.
1 – To Kellyology who is still out there blogging. She Tweets, which is still a mystery to me.
2 – To Eighteen Wheels and Women. A woman trucker who blogs as well. When I read her posts, I can just imagine being in the cab with her. (That probably gives her the creeps.)
3 – To What I See. This new blogger is sharing her experiences quitting smoking, blogging, and raising her nephews.
4 – To Poe’s Deadly Daughters – a blog for people who love mysteries and mystery writers.
5 – To Jungle Red Writers – another blog for those who love mysteries and the people who write them.
6 – To Debbie Macomber – the friendliest, most approachable, maybe the most prolific writer of the moment who also finds time to knit and give us a few hints on that too.
7 – To Katalina Mau, Fun at Forty who shows us that the 40′s may just be an improvement on the 30′s. Look beyond the fact that she’s not posting regularly and see what she’s been doing in the meantime.
I have lots of new blogging friends and I apologize for not giving you the award as well. There’s always next time.

You sound like an awe-summm lady, Marilynne. I can only hope that I’m still doing zumba when I’m 70! This is a great site and I’ll be back often.
PS – I was also told that writing is a hobby, not a career – but I’ve been making a living at it for 11 years now, and hope to continue for many more.
Thank you so much for mentioning my 18 Wheels And Women. I do like it that you are in the cab with me. I also try to write the stories so the reader does feel like they are in the truck (maybe even driving that semi!) and then the reader can feel/see what is happening in the trucking world.
I was also told that I can’t make a living when I entered the world of buses out of high school. Then why are all these people involved with the industry if they are not making money???? Then I was told if I was married it may be OK to do it. I fail to follow that logic. I do not let things stop me when it is something that I really want to do. Phooie with that logic that men can do anything and we women are put in a catagory. So you just keep on writing as I also like your posts. I just need to read more of them and respond more. I shall try to do better. Again thank you so much and now I’ll have to check out the others you mentioned.
LOL I was just reading in the local paper that over 40′s don’t understand blogging and twitter – I got back online to find a guy who’s over 65 following me on twitter and now I discover your real age -but I guess that would spoil the story right ? You go girl – nice blog.
I used to get into arguments with young people who thought they owned the computing world. They do. But when they went so far to say older people don’t understand computers I’d get back at them. I’d say, “I remember the green screen.” [blank look] I’d say “I remember typing documents on a type-writer-like computer and have them messenger the printouts to me from another location.” I’d say “Who do you think invented the computer? Not me, people older than me. My generation was the one who invented the personal computers everyone uses to me.
By that time they were usually struck dumb. A whole belief system in tatters.

A belated happy birthday! I always thought that you were about 20 years younger!
You can’t tell on the Internet. Thanks for thinking it.
