It’s a good time to think about Christmas giving.
Are you already loaded down with lists and shopping to do? Busy, busy, busy. Crowded stores and homes decked to the rooftop with Christmas glitter? Me too. I love the Christmas season.
However, I’ve been doing some thnking about what I need for a good Christmas. (Actually, my husband started this off by doing some thinking about what he needs for Christmas.) I have plenty to eat, plenty to wear, and a roof over my head and wheels in our garage. That should be plenty.
So, for Christmas, we’re going to give our big gift to someone who doesn’t have those things. My spouse has chosen to adopt a family for Christmas. I’ve decided on outreach, like a pair of rabbits or goats to people for whom this means life. The idea of giving pairs is that the family receiving the gift will breed their animals and begin a herd. To me, this means a lift out of the gutter.
So, think about increasing your giving this year to include a person or two who doesn’t have much. You might even make a New Year’s resolution to do it again next year.
Merry Christmas! Marilynne
