A few thoughts about New Year’s

I’m currently watching a video about New Year’s around the globe. It’s here if you want to watch.

I love to watch this one thing we seem to have in common, don’t you? Here, at my home, it’s not even supper time. It’s hours before we celebrate the coming New Year.

Here are some thoughts:

  • I hope I can find time to watch the Rosebowl Parade. I’m recording it, but I can’t sit that long at one stretch. Hopefully I can watch most of it. We went one year after the parade to where the floats were on display. The thing that struck me most was the fragrance of all those flowers. Float after float made with flowers and those flowers all have their unique smells. Makes you wish for Smell-o-Vision, doesn’t it?
  • I wonder why we make so much fuss about going from one year to another. I have new calendars put up and ready to go, isn’t that enough? No, people like to celebrate and this gives us one more opportunity to have a good time.
  • I think about the babies who will be born and the many people this night who won’t come home. One a joy. One a sorrow.
  • I am happy and content with the year just passing. It was a good year for my husband and I. I appreciate that.
  • I hold to my heart my children and grandchildren. I wish them a good year coming. Life has so many variables. Sometimes good comes from something very small.
  • I hope that in the year to come you all find things to please you and the strength to deal with those things that do not.

Happy New Year to you all.
