I’m a NaNoWriMo winner!

I’m a NaNoWriMo winner!  Here’s the evidence that I met my personal goal of 50,000 words in the month of November. You can’t get the badge until you meet your goal.  It feels good.

Thankfulness

On this Thanksgiving Day our thoughts turn to the things we are grateful for.  We thank God for the family and friends who gather with us today.  We thank Him for the table which holds more food than we can eat – even if we stuff ourselves.  We pray for those who don’t have these things, for these are the things of life.

My family is gathering at our youngest daughter’s house this week.  Right now the house is quiet.  I’m working on my laptop in my daughter’s great room.  My grandson is still asleep.  That boy just races from one thing to another all day long.  It makes me tired just to think of it.  (I remember my husband’s mother saying the same thing.)

After a while we’ll get the pies in the oven and put the orange and gold cloth on the table, set it with the good dishes, and prepare the meal.  Then we’ll do it again next week.  Because of the various schedules the only time we can all be together is next week.  Who cares if it’s not “Thanksgiving Day”?  We’ll be thankful to be together and we’ll load the table once more with good things to eat.

Hopefully my diet can take it.  As a diabetic, the holidays are a mine field.  You can maintain equilibrium if you’re thoughtful about what you eat, but the temptations are all there.  I don’t ask my family to do without their good things just because I have to.  Truthfully, I’ll probably have just a little of this or that so I don’t feel deprived.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all today and every day.  Never forget to be grateful for the good things in your life.

P.S.  I’d be even more grateful if I could figure out why I can’t insert a photo into this post.  Maybe later today.  Thanks for visiting.

Update on NaNoWriMo

My story is nearly complete, but my word count is still low.  I’m trying to remember more things to put in the manuscript.  For me, it’s not just 50,000 words, it’s 50,000 usable words.

I just tried to add a photo and I’m finding that I’ve overused my photo space.  One moment please while I correct it.  (that is, while I delete something)

Deleting . . . deleting . . . deleting . . .
deleting . . .

Now let’s try again.  I want the photo at the top so it won’t appear here.  Just know that I had to delete before I could add more.

Ah, that worked!  That’s what my laptop looked like yesterday.  Nothing much going and only 1,000 words written.  It happens.  It’s not a total catastrophe because I’ve really been pushing the word count.  The story I’m writing interests me and I know what I’m going to do with it when I’m done.

My total NanoWriMo words today, on Saturday morning is 36, 600 words.  That’s a lot.  Maybe I’ll do better today.

NaNoWriMo Day 14

After a slow start I’ve been going great guns.  I want to get this over with and WIN!  I think I explained here already that winning means meeting your personal goal of 50,000 words in the month of November.

Yesterday I had a set back.  I had written 25,000 words and felt great, but when I opened the file on Saturday, Friday’s words had disappeared.  I looked and looked, but they were just gone.  It brought home to me the need for making backups.  I’ve been backing up every now and then, but loosing 2500 words really hurt.

On Saturday I made up the lost words.  Now I’m going to peel out and get going again.  I want to finish early this year.
