An Introduction is in Order

Oh my, the dishes are collecting again!

Oh my, the dishes are collecting again!

I have gone on and on without introducing the bunnies.  The bunnies take over when I’m too busy to blog – like today when it’s House Day.  I have a special bunny pic for House Day.  House Day is when I catch up on housework of all sorts.

Today I hope to upgrade the pulls in our bathrooms.  I bought some dark masculine ones for my hubbies bath and some sweet feminine ones for my bath.  It’s not a total makeover, but I can afford it.  (You thought I was going to clean, didn’t you?)

I’ll do that in between laundry and going out for a Starbucks.  The Starbucks is my treat that keeps me motivated.

Just Bunzie

Just Bunzie

OK, my main blog holding bunny is Bunzie.  I like him because he takes all sorts of positions and he looks thoughtful, sad, just bunny depending on how I drop him into the picture.

I see he’s sitting on the keyboard.  Typical.  He likes to do that when I’m not working.

Grace is hoping for order.

The other bunny is Gracie.  She seems to always be praying for strength, or patience or something.

The bunnies like to point out areas that are getting cluttered, but I love my STUFF!

One more.  This bookcase sits at the top of the stair in a totally crazy spot.  There’s room, but there wasn’t purpose until I put the bookcase there.  You see:

-  A candle.

-  One of my late mother-in-law’s bells.

-  A bit of honeycomb that is a gift from some bees who visited for a few days, then left.

-  A tray made by my clay artist sister-in-law, Linda.  (She was going to throw it away because it’s flawed, but I wouldn’t let her.)

-  A tiny train sent by Reader’s Digest to sweeten the deal on some condensed books.

They’re all sitting on a homemade Christmas napkin my daughter sent me.

In the background is a favorite picture of my husband and I in costume, a tiny box made to look like a tiger cuddling her cub, and a flower pot filled with salt and sporting some glass flowers.  You see why I can’t get rid of a bit of it.

Still, today I’m creating a little bit of order in my cluttered house.  In a few days I’ll unclutter a bit more.

I’m giving up trying to put my pictures and text together.  You’ll have to think of it as a puzzle.  Have a good bunny day.

More visitors

Liz is discussing something with the bird

Liz is discussing something with the bird

Today my lizard has returned.  He appears to be having a conversation with the birds on the feeder.   Can he tell that this bird is a seed feeder, not a meat (lizard) eater?  When he’s under the big eaves of the house, he’s not in danger from the hawk that scans this part of the valley.

I saw the baby mouse in the kitchen last night.  He’s so small he doesn’t trigger the mouse trap.  I’m afraid we’ll have to catch him in a sticky trap.  That sounds more gentle, but in truth, the mouse dies slowly and in great fear, trying its best to get off the trap.  When he struggles, he just gets caught worse.

Don’t worry.  My husband says he’ll just keep feeding it until it’s heavy enough to spring the trap.  (grin)  In truth, we both hope he’ll find the way out and go away.

Visitors

Monday, 27. July 2009 1:10

I have visitors at my house.  One is welcome.  That’s the lizard you see on the outside of my window.  In our climate, lizards are good because they eat bugs.  My greeting to these lizards is “live long and grow fat.”

This lizard waits on the screen outside my office.

This lizard waits on the screen outside my office.

The lizards like to hang on to the screen or the sunny stucco walls of my house so they can digest the bugs they’ve eaten.  They are cold blooded so they need the warmth of the sun to digest their food.

If they were inside, they’d probably die because of the lack of sunny spots.  This one is fine just where he is.  I’ve gotten used to them scurrying away, but sometimes they get so loggy in the sunshine that they just sit there.

Another visitor isn’t welcome, but I can’t catch him.  It’s a baby mouse, so tiny you’re not sure you saw something when he comes running by.  We’ve set traps for him, but he continues to elude them and runs around the house in the evening looking for – what?  Maybe a way out or a safer place to hide?  He’s lucky we don’t have a cat.  Tonight he was just watching me take his picture.

If I opened the door would he run outside?

If I opened the door would he run outside?

I would try to open the door, but he runs so fast his feet are just a blur.  His tail hangs out behind him like a stabilizer or something.  Eventually the race will be over, but in the mean time I admit being amused by him.  (But that doesn’t mean I will tolerate him inside my house.)

I want him to go away, but he's so cute.

Really Cool Wedding Video

Saturday, 25. July 2009 2:07

If you haven’t seen this video yet, please take the time to have a look. It’s the kind of wedding I would have loved, but in the fifties, when I got married, the roof would have fallen down. There is such an expression of happiness and joy.

You can read more about the wedding at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/24/AR2009072403199.html?nav=rss_email/components
