I woke up this morning to something so incredibly beautiful I just had to show everyone. We had a very heavy mist last night and it must have misted all night long. This is what I saw when I went out to get the morning paper.

I hope you enjoyed them too.

I was cutting fabric to make some new nature-themed place mats last night when the house started shaking. I stood up straight and looked at the fan light above the table where I was working. It was not only rocking, it was bouncing up and down. “How cool!” I thought. “We’re having an earthquake.” Then I called the same to my husband who later admitted that his chair at the computer was bouncing up and down.
“How cool!” How can one say that in the middle of an earthquake? It comes with experience, not only the clear signs of earthquake (the jumping fan light), but also the fact that I was standing on my feet riding it out. I’ve been in an earthquake that would have laid me out on the floor and thrown me about a little. So, last night’s 4.7 earthquake was cool.
However, something that does bother me is the fact that we hardly ever have an earthquake in San Diego, not an earthquake you can feel anyway. I live in an east-west valley near the coast. San Diego has a long valley/canyon that they call the Rose Canyon. This is our biggest fault line and is usually just a quiet place to walk. The reason we felt the earthquake almost as well as those in LA was because it was on the Rose Canyon fault line. That means it’s not as quiet a fault as I thought it was. Nature is full of surprises.
Full of surprises and we just have to adapt to whatever that change is. So, today as I go about my business I’ll look at my cluttered house and be sure that nothing is ready to fall onto the floor. That’s a result of little earthquakes. They can bounce something to the edge of a shelf and you don’t notice it, but later, a sonic boom or someone stomping through the house will shake it just enough to make it fall.
Not a big consequence. The earthquake is over. We didn’t feel the aftershocks. We’re just fine.

To find out if my blogging friends were being marked as spam, I changed my spam.bot settings so I could see who was marked as spam. I guarantee the filter is working correctly. Why anyone would follow those spammy links is beyond my imagination. So, I’ll continue to allow my No-Spam filter to work, saving me the trouble of looking for gold among the dross (garbage).
If anyone feels their comments are being marked as spam, please write to me at maxiegirl68@cox.net. Rhonda did that and I’m so glad she did.
